What is Car Insurance?

tree Car Insurance is designed for vehicles registered in Saudi Arabia. We offer three plans: Smart Third-Party Insurance, Third-Party Plus, and Comprehensive Insurance, so you can choose the level of protection that best suits your vehicle and your needs.

What's the difference between the plans?

Smart Third-Party Insurance
Our mandatory third-party liability plan. It covers your legal liability if you cause injury to others or damage their property. It also includes Personal Accident cover for the driver at no additional cost.

Third-Party Plus
Includes everything in Smart Third-Party Insurance, with the flexibility to add optional cover such as Collision Damage, GCC Cover, or a Replacement Vehicle.

Comprehensive Insurance
Our highest level of protection. It includes Third-Party Liability cover, as well as protection for your own vehicle against collision, fire, theft, and natural disasters.

When does my policy coverage start?

Your policy starts once your payment has been completed and your policy has been successfully linked with Najm. You can find your coverage start date in the policy schedule sent to your email.

How long is my policy valid?

Your policy provides cover for one year, starting from its effective date.

Does my policy cover me in GCC countries?

Your policy covers you while driving within Saudi Arabia.

If you'd like cover for damage to your vehicle while travelling to other GCC countries, you can add GCC Cover to your Third-Party Plus plan.

Does my insurance cover someone else driving my car?

Yes. Your policy covers you, your immediate family members, and any domestic worker driving your vehicle with your permission, provided they hold a valid Saudi driving licence appropriate for the vehicle type.

With Smart Third-Party Insurance and Third-Party Plus, you can also add named drivers to your policy.

Coverage Basics

What does Third-Party Liability cover?

Third-Party Liability covers your legal responsibility if you cause injury to another person or damage someone else's property. This includes repairing the other vehicle or compensating for injuries.

It doesn't cover damage to your own vehicle.

Does Smart Third-Party Insurance include Personal Accident cover?

Yes. Smart Third-Party Insurance includes Personal Accident cover for the driver at no additional cost.

If the driver suffers a serious injury, permanent disability, or death as a result of a covered road accident, compensation will be paid in accordance with your policy terms. The cover also contributes towards eligible medical treatment costs.

What does Comprehensive Insurance cover?

Comprehensive Insurance protects your vehicle against a wide range of covered incidents, including collision, fire, theft, lightning, hail, floods, and other covered events.

It also covers vehicle recovery and storage after an accident, in addition to the same Third-Party Liability cover included in all plans.

Does my policy cover floods, hail, and other natural disasters?

Yes, but only with Comprehensive Insurance. Your policy covers damage to your vehicle caused by natural disasters, including floods, hail, lightning, and fire, in accordance with your policy terms.

Where can I get my vehicle repaired after an accident?

If you have Comprehensive Insurance, you can choose how your vehicle is repaired when you purchase your policy. You can select repairs at the manufacturer's authorized dealership or at one of tree's approved repair workshops. Your selected repair option will be shown in your policy schedule.

Repairs at the authorized dealership usually cost more because genuine parts are used. If you choose workshop repairs, you can view the full list of tree's approved repair workshops.

Do I have to pay an excess?

Yes. An excess applies to claims for damage to your vehicle. The amount is agreed when you purchase your policy and is shown in your policy schedule.

You won't pay an excess if the other party is fully responsible for the accident. If liability is shared, your excess may be reduced accordingly.

Add-Ons

What optional covers can I add to Third-Party Plus?

With Third-Party Plus, you can customize your cover by choosing one to five optional add-ons, including:

Roadside Assistance: Vehicle towing from the accident scene, including a damage assessment.
Collision Damage Cover: Covers accidental damage to your vehicle, including hit-and-run incidents.

GCC Cover: Covers damage to your vehicle while travelling in GCC countries.
Replacement Vehicle: Provides a daily allowance to rent a replacement vehicle while your car is being repaired.

How long do I have to submit a claim?

We recommend reporting your accident as soon as possible.

Supporting documents for vehicle damage claims and optional covers must be submitted within 90 days of the accident. Otherwise, your claim may be closed.

We'll confirm receipt of your claim within 3 business days and let you know if we need any additional documents.

Once we've received all the required documents, we aim to settle straightforward claims within 15 business days. More complex claims may take longer, but we'll keep you updated throughout the process.

Hit-and-run accidents are covered if:

You have Comprehensive Insurance, or

All you'll need is an accident report from Najm or the Traffic Police confirming the incident.

Please note that hit-and-run accidents aren't covered under Smart Third-Party Insurance.

Can I cancel my policy?

Yes. You can cancel your policy in certain situations, including:

Purchasing a new policy from another insurance company.
Selling your vehicle or transferring ownership.
Total loss of your vehicle (scrapped) or exporting it outside Saudi Arabia.

If you're eligible for a refund, we'll calculate it based on the remaining coverage period, after deducting any applicable administrative fees and any claims that have already been paid.

What happens to my policy if I sell my vehicle?

Your policy is linked to your vehicle and doesn't transfer automatically to the new owner.

Once the ownership transfer has been completed, you can cancel your policy through tree by selecting "Vehicle Sold or Ownership Transferred" as the cancellation reason.

If you're eligible for a refund, we'll transfer the remaining amount to your bank account within a few business days.
