Domestic Worker Health
General Questions
Can I buy medical insurance for a domestic helper before they arrive in Saudi Arabia?
Currently, no. You can purchase and activate the policy only after the official residency permit (Iqama) is issued for the domestic helper.
Can I issue separate policies for each worker under the same sponsor?
When you insure multiple domestic workers at the same time, they must all be included together in a single consolidated policy.
Can I remove an insured worker after the policy is issued?
You can remove a worker only in specific cases: (the worker’s death God forbid, transfer of sponsorship to another person, or end of employment contract with final exit from the Kingdom). Of course, as the policyholder, you have the right to cancel the entire insurance policy at any time, provided you offer alternative insurance if it is legally mandatory for you under Council of Health Insurance (CHI) regulations.
How much does the policy cost?
Prices start from SAR 272 and depend primarily on the worker's age and gender.
What is Domestic Helper Medical Insurance?
It is a medical insurance policy tailored for domestic workers under your sponsorship. It ensures they receive medical care and prompt treatment while protecting you from unexpected hospital expenses.
(Note: If you have 4 or more domestic helpers under your sponsorship, health insurance is legally mandatory).
Who is eligible for this insurance?
Any male or female domestic worker officially registered under your sponsorship within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
When does medical insurance for domestic helpers become legally mandatory?
According to Council of Health Insurance (CHI) regulations, if you have 4 or more domestic helpers under your sponsorship, medical insurance becomes legally mandatory. We provide the "Al-Raha" (Comfort) plan, which fully meets all official requirements and standards.
Coverage Basics
Can I add new hospitals after the policy is issued?
No, the medical network and hospitals you select and agree upon at the time of purchase cannot be modified or added to once the policy is issued
How long is the insurance policy or coverage period?
One full year (12 months), starting from the policy activation date.
What is the difference between the available plans?
We offer 3 main health insurance plans for domestic workers, which differ in their estimated starting prices and maximum annual coverage limits:
Basic Plan: Starting at SAR 272 (with an annual maximum coverage of SAR 50,000).
"Al-Raha" (Comfort) Plan (Officially approved by the Council of Health Insurance - CHI): Starting at SAR 340 (with an annual maximum coverage of SAR 100,000).
Comprehensive Plan: Starting at SAR 510 (with an annual maximum coverage of SAR 100,000 and higher additional benefits)
What medical services do the plans cover?
The plans cover doctor consultations, prescription medicines, hospital admissions, and emergency care, as well as additional benefits such as dental, optical, and physiotherapy—all subject to the coverage limits specified in your plan.
Does the insurance cover dental treatment for the worker?
It covers basic and necessary dental treatments only (such as pain management, extractions, and fillings), and does not cover cosmetic procedures.
Does the insurance cover eye exams and optical treatment (optical care)?
Optical care and eyeglasses are included in the "Comprehensive" plan only.
What happens if the worker receives emergency treatment outside the approved medical network?
In out-of-network emergency cases, you pay the hospital out-of-pocket first. Afterward, you can easily submit a reimbursement claim via the tree app or website, attaching the invoices and required documents, and we will follow up with you until the reimbursement is deposited into your bank account.
How can the domestic worker use the insurance at a clinic or hospital?
The worker visits any clinic or hospital within the medical network designated for their plan and presents their ID/Iqama. The system will automatically process the covered treatment costs, and the worker only pays the required deductible (co-payment).
How much does the worker pay at the clinic?
The worker pays a small deductible (co-payment) for each visit, determined by the selected insurance plan.
Claims & Cancellation & Renewal
Can I get a refund if the worker leaves before the policy expires?
Yes, you can submit a request to cancel the policy and get a refund for the remaining period. The refund amount will be calculated based on the remaining days of coverage.
Does the worker need prior approval from the insurance before receiving treatment?
Routine clinic visits and consultations do not require prior approval, unless the treatment exceeds a specific amount or is for specialized services such as CT scans, MRIs, and day-surgery procedures. Hospital admissions always require prior approval; the hospital itself will submit the request to us, and we will respond within just 60 minutes.
How can I renew the domestic helper insurance policy?
Before your policy expires, we will send you reminder messages to your email and phone with a direct link. All you need to do is click the link, renew, and pay online in just a few seconds.
